Я працював у спеціальних школах протягом 3 років, а також у державних та чартерних школах у CPS та Чиказькому передмісті більше 15 років. Це найгірша школа, яку я бачив, ПЕРІОД! У мене є двоє дітей шкільного віку, мене запитували, але я ніколи не замислювався над тим, чому я не зарахував своїх дочок до цих відмінних шкіл. У цих школах співвідношення учнів і студентів до одного становить 28+. Моя роль протягом трьох років тут була парапрофесійною для їхнього відділу спеціальної освіти та негайним підпорядкуванням для вчителів, які називали хворих вранці на роботі. Я не став би свою дитину в ці класи чи школи, які в основному навчають із планшета чи хромової книги (я міг би це зробити вдома для безкоштовної освіти своїх дітей). Більшість дня студентів тут поховано в додатках для математики (ST математика) та додатках для читання (Lexia), а вчителі та Дін борються за управління поведінкою.
Система управління поведінкою змінюється щороку. Від затримання, до суботнього ув'язнення, до системи заслуг і недоліків. Усі вони зазнають невдачі. Студенти розмовляють зі співробітниками і лаються з ними загрозливо. Щоб досягти успіху в цих відмінних школах, потрібно більше, ніж читати «Навчай як чемпіон». Існує повний хаос, якщо заміну доведеться заповнити, щоб вчитель був поза робочим днем. Бійки, знущання і ніякого способу це контролювати. Коли начальники Відмінної мережі та інші гранти (які хочуть дати школі гроші) приходять до цієї школи, щоб побачити, що вони хочуть також підтримати чи пожертвувати, учні та вчителі отримують повідомлення та отримують додаткові бонуси та винагороди, щоб вони залишалися в тиші та у своїх кімнатах. "У коридорах проблем немає". Що є підробкою. Якби ці донори та вищі керівники знали реальність цієї школи !!!! Вони обдурюють усіх, хто пожертвував цю школу. Я бачив, як вчителі виїжджали всього кілька тижнів на рік, тому що студенти вийшли з -під контролю, а система управління поведінкою їм мало допомагала. Я бачив, як SUBS з відразою відходять від поведінки студентів і відповідають, а вчителі не мають цього рішення.
Адміністрація зробить все можливе, щоб виглядати добре, незалежно від реальних потреб студентів, щоб досягти успіху в житті. Я бачив, як студенти з інвалідністю роками тут залишаються без уваги, і у світі не піклуються про те, щоб поліпшити чи виправити те, що вони образили. Схоже, вони виштовхують учнів, що у них проблеми з поведінкою. За свої 3 роки тут я бачив, як щороку більше половини вчителів виїжджали або не отримували запитів. Хоча більшість йде до шкіл, які не такі хаотичні, до шкіл, які пишаються тим, що навчають та наставляють молодь у Чикаго. Деякі залишаються після закінчення шкільних років без роботи, тому що ви працюєте за бажанням у цій чартерній школі. Отже, якщо ви їм не подобаєтесь, незважаючи на те, що чудово працюєте зі студентами, вас більше немає. Я бачив, як ця школа руйнує емоційний розвиток учнів без турботи у всьому світі, окрім адміністрації, яка не виглядає погано навколо. Я можу лише сподіватись, як батьки та педагоги, що ця школа скоро змінить ситуацію. Оскільки тут є кілька вчителів, які зроблять все для своїх учнів, щось треба змінити !!!!!!!
